The Role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will inspect, service, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles (including 1,100+ heavy vehicles over 3.5 tonnes) to manufacturer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out safety inspections, routine servicing, and general mechanical repairs safely and efficiently.
- Investigate, diagnose faults using modern diagnostic systems, and order parts effectively.
- Ensure all work meets strict safety and quality compliance, adopting a hands-on, right-first-time approach.
Requirements
- Qualifications: City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or time-served equivalent). IRTEC accreditation is highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven technical experience working on HGVs.
- Skills: Strong fault-finding abilities, flexibility, and a collaborative team attitude.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with hydraulics, cranes, tippers, tipper grabs, or beaver tails.
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) license (Standard car license holders considered).
Earnings Breakdown
- Basic Pay (40 hrs @ £18.00/hr): £37,440
- Standard Overtime (7.5 hrs avg @ £27.00/hr): £10,530
- Alternate Saturdays (5 hrs x 26 wks @ £27.00/hr): £3,510
- Total Average Annual Earnings: £51,480
