Our client is a long-established Engineering company based in Redditch. They pride themselves on delivering precision-engineered components across a wide range of manufacturing sectors. We are currently looking for a reliable, hard-working Hand Press Operator to join our dedicated production team.
The Role
As a Hand Press Operator, you will play a key role in our day-to-day press shop operations. You will be responsible for manually operating hand fly presses and small mechanical presses to blank, pierce, form, and finish metal components according to batch production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe and efficient operation of hand-operated fly presses and press tooling.
- Loading raw metal materials or pre-cut blanks into tools with accuracy and consistency.
- Conducting quality checks on finished parts using basic measuring tools (gauges, calipers) to ensure tolerance compliance.
- Deburring, fettling, and preparing components for downstream production or finishing processes.
- Monitoring machine performance and reporting tool wear or defects to the supervisor.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace (5S principles).
Requirements
- Experience: Prior experience operating hand presses, fly presses, or working within a metal press shop/engineering environment is preferred.
- Skills: Strong manual dexterity, high attention to detail, and good hand-eye coordination.
- Quality Focus: Ability to follow engineering drawings or sample parts and perform basic visual quality inspections.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent output while working independently or as part of a team.
