We are working on behalf of our prestigious client, who have been in business since the early 1900s and they are the UK’s market leader in the manufacture of waste management vehicles. Their famous brand name is seen on the front of leading waste management companies' cabs every day across the United Kingdom’s streets.
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and dynamic multi-disciplined HGV Technician to join their Merthyr team.
Job Purpose: To service, maintain and repair vehicle chassis, body and specialist mounted equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day service and repair of Heavy Goods Vehicles
- Run diagnostics on vehicles using a range of equipment
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times
- Carry out routine vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, fault finding and repairs
- Complete technical training when required
- Complete relevant documentation
- Provide industry-leading customer service
- Carry out HGV MOT inspections and preparations
Salary: Up to £41,804.95 pa DOE, plus 4-5 hours overtime per week plus bonus = £51,000.00 per year.
Overtime: Paid at 1.5 Monday to Friday and Saturday, Sunday x2 and Bank holidays at x2 plus day in lieu.
Location: Merthyr Tydfil.
Hours: 45 hpw, 9 hours per day between 07:00 and 16:30 Monday to Friday.
Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays.

Criteria:
- Knowledge: Knowledge of HGV industry (Essential), Knowledge of RCV industry (Desirable).
- Experience: Experience of both body and chassis maintenance and repair (Essential), Experience in maintenance and repair of RCVs or similar equipment (Desirable), Year 3 C&G training or equivalent (Essential), Health and Safety (Desirable).
- Job-related skills & abilities: Ability to communicate with others effectively (Essential), Ability to work under own initiative (Desirable), Good customer service ethos (Desirable), Team player (Essential).
- Other requirements: Self-motivated (Essential), Willing to work overtime as needed (Desirable), Willingness to travel throughout the UK on occasion (Desirable).
Quality & Environmental Responsibilities: Responsible for the management, compliance and upkeep of the quality & environmental procedures, records, and documents relevant to the role.
