Salary: £35,838 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

Contek Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Storesperson to join a well-established manufacturing business in Gainsborough. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous engineering or manufacturing stores experience who is looking to take on a more responsible position, with involvement across stock control, purchasing, supplier management and supporting the Engineering team. You will play an important role in ensuring the Engineering Department has the correct parts, spares and consumables available when required, whilst keeping the stores operation organised, accurate and cost-effective.

The Role

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Engineering Stores.
  • Manage stock levels of engineering spares, components and consumables.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular stock checks and audits.
  • Ensure critical spare parts are available to support production and maintenance.
  • Identify obsolete and surplus stock and assist with stock reduction.
  • Raise purchase orders and source engineering components from suppliers.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to achieve best value.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and monitor delivery and service levels.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Production teams to understand upcoming requirements.
  • Prepare parts and spares for planned maintenance and shutdown activities.
  • Maintain accurate records using the site's CMMS / stock management system.
  • Support the management of pumps and associated spares across the site.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve stock availability, reduce costs and improve reliability.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation using 5S principles.
  • Ensure stores activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Support wider engineering and continuous improvement projects.

About You

We are looking for someone who has previously worked within engineering stores, maintenance stores or a manufacturing environment. You could currently be working as a:

  • Senior Storesperson
  • Engineering Storesperson
  • Stores Controller
  • Engineering Stores Controller
  • Maintenance Storesperson
  • Stores Coordinator
  • Engineering Stock Controller
  • Parts / Spares Coordinator

The successful candidate will ideally have a good understanding of engineering parts and maintenance requirements, although candidates with strong manufacturing stores experience will also be considered.

Key Skills

  • Previous experience within engineering or manufacturing stores.
  • Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
  • Good understanding of engineering components and spare parts.
  • Experience dealing with suppliers and purchasing.
  • Comfortable using computerised stock or CMMS systems.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with Engineering, Production and Purchasing teams.
  • Knowledge of pumps, bearings, seals, pneumatics or other mechanical components would be advantageous.
  • Experience working to 5S or similar workplace organisation standards.
  • A proactive, practical and positive approach.

This is more than a traditional Storesperson position. You will have genuine responsibility for the Engineering Stores, working closely with the Engineering team and playing an important role in keeping production running efficiently. For an experienced Storesperson looking to progress into a more senior and responsible engineering stores position, this offers a stable long-term opportunity within a substantial manufacturing environment.
