Finishing Technician / Metal Polisher

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Metal Polisher / Finishing Technician to join a skilled and supportive team.
The successful candidate will be involved in transforming machined and fabricated components through a range of polishing, finishing and preparation processes, working to exceptionally high standards.
The role would suit someone with previous metal polishing, fettling, linishing or finishing experience who takes genuine pride in their workmanship and has a strong eye for detail.
The Role
- Carrying out metal polishing and finishing to a consistently high standard
- Producing bright and mirror finishes on a variety of metal components
- Using polishing motors, mops, compounds and associated finishing equipment
- Using orbital sanders, diamond cutters and other hand-held equipment where required
- Grinding, fettling and linishing components
- Preparing components for subsequent finishing and plating processes
- Working from instructions and specifications to achieve the required finish
- Inspecting your own work to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Working both independently and as part of an experienced team
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Following all relevant Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work
- Working to production deadlines while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Being willing to learn and develop your skills across a range of specialist finishing processes
About You
- Previous experience in metal polishing, metal finishing, fettling, linishing or a similar environment is highly desirable
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years' experience in a metal polishing or finishing position
- Good practical skills and a hands-on approach
- Excellent attention to detail
- Pride in producing high-quality workmanship
- Patient and persistent, with an understanding that quality finishing takes time and care
- Able to work under pressure in a busy production environment
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual
- Enthusiastic and keen to learn new skills
- Approachable and receptive to instruction
- Good general manners and a professional attitude
- Physically comfortable working on your feet for extended periods
- Hours & Package
- Permanent position following a successful probationary period
- 39.5 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Friday: 7:30am - 1:00pm
- 30-minute lunch break Monday to Thursday
- Overtime available Monday to Friday at Time & Half, subject to business demand and successful completion of probation
- Salary dependent on experience and skill level
- 20 days' holiday plus 8 Bank Holidays
