HGV Mechanic / Technician (MOT & Fitter)

Job Description Role Overview: HGV Technician \n \n \n Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (12-hour shifts) \n \n Salary Breakdown: \n \n \n Days: £43,000 \n \n Split Shift (Days & Nights): £48,000 \n \n Nights: £51,000 \n \n \n Key Responsibilities (HOVIS Vehicle Services Specification) \n \n \n Servicing & Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance across the fleet (e.g., 16T DAF, 7.2T Iveco Daily, and larger distribution units). \n \n Diagnostics: Perform mechanical and electrical fault-finding using commercial diagnostic tools (e.g., Texa systems). \n \n MOT & Safety Inspections: Prepare commercial vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards for MOT testing. \n \n Ancillary Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair tail lifts, shutter doors, and bodywork components. \n \n Compliance & Records: Ensure all vehicle defect reports, job cards, and maintenance logs meet strict road safety and DVSA compliance standards. \n \n Candidate Requirements \n \n \n Essential: NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds / equivalent qualification) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. \n \n Preferred (Not Essential): Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving licence. \n \n Skills & Experience: \n \n \n Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities on commercial vehicles. \n \n Familiarity with DVSA inspection guidelines. \n \n Ability to work effectively on a 12-hour 4-on, 4-off rota. \n \n \n \n JBRP1_UKTJ
