Maintenance Engineer in Gainsborough

Shift Engineer – Multi-Skilled Location: Gainsborough, Lincolnshire Salary: £48,395 per annum Shift Pattern: 12-hour rotating days & nights Average Working Week: 40 hours Contract: Permanent Contek Recruitment are representing their client Contek Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Engineer to join the Engineering team of a well-established manufacturing operation in Gainsborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Engineer with previous FMCG manufacturing experience to join a busy production environment, working across a range of mechanical and electrical machinery and supporting the site with both planned and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently on shift, responding to breakdowns, carrying out preventative maintenance and using their engineering knowledge to keep production running safely and efficiently. The Role * Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery and site equipment. * Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical and electrical breakdowns. * Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise production downtime. * Work across both mechanical and electrical aspects of maintenance. * Support continuous improvement and engineering improvement projects. * Assist with fault finding and root cause analysis. * Complete routine inspections, testing and maintenance activities. * Maintain accurate engineering records through the site's CMMS system. * Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures. * Work closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to maintain maximum machine availability. * Support the implementation and maintenance of engineering standards across the site. * Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards within engineering areas. * Ensure appropriate safety procedures are followed, including relevant ATEX requirements. * Proactively identify potential equipment issues before they develop into major breakdowns. * Provide engineering support across different areas of the manufacturing facility. About You The successful candidate will be an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who is confident working within a fast-paced production environment. Previous FMCG manufacturing experience is essential for this position. You will ideally have: * Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills. * Previous experience working as a Multi-Skilled or Shift Engineer. * Proven experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment. * Good fault-finding and diagnostic ability. * Experience working with production machinery and associated equipment. * Awareness of ATEX and associated workplace requirements. * Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance. * Good computer skills and confidence using maintenance management systems. * Experience using a CMMS system; Pirana experience would be advantageous. * A proactive approach to identifying and resolving engineering issues. * The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure. * Strong communication and organisational skills. * A punctual, reliable and professional approach to shift work. Shift Pattern This position operates on a 12-hour rotating shift pattern covering both days and nights, averaging 40 hours per week. The pattern works on a three-week rotation: Week Shift A Shift B Shift C Week 1 Mon/Tue Days + Thu/Fri Nights Mon/Tue/Wed Nights Wed/Thu/Fri Days Week 2 Wed/Thu/Fri Days Mon/Tue Days + Thu/Fri Nights Mon/Tue/Wed Nights Week 3 Mon/Tue/Wed Nights Wed/Thu/Fri Days Mon/Tue Days + Thu/Fri Nights This provides a balanced rotation of days and nights, with an average working week of 40 hours.
