CNC Turner – Setter / Operator Location: Billericay, Essex Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–3:30pm Overtime: Paid at time and a third Contract: Permanent The Company Contek Recruitment Solutions are representing an established precision engineering business based in Billericay, Essex, who are looking to recruit a CNC Turner – Setter / Operator due to continued growth and the creation of a new position within the business. The company operates a modern CNC machining facility, producing precision components for a diverse range of industries. Their machining capabilities include both sliding-head and fixed-head CNC turning, alongside CNC milling, with a strong focus on quality and precision. This is a small team of around 12 people, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to become an important part of the business rather than simply another number within a large production environment. The Role The successful CNC Turner will be responsible for setting and operating CNC turning machinery, producing precision components to drawing and specification. Experience with either sliding-head or fixed-head CNC turning will be considered. Setting and operating CNC turning machinery Working on Citizen sliding-head CNC machinery or Fanuc-controlled fixed-head lathes Editing existing CNC programmes at the machine Reading and interpreting engineering drawings Setting tooling, offsets and workholding Producing precision components to tight tolerances Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection Using measuring equipment to check component quality Making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy Working from engineering drawings and production information Maintaining a clean and safe working environment About You The ideal candidate will have previous experience setting and operating CNC turning machinery within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. Programming experience is not essential , as CNC programmes are generated offline. The key requirement is someone who is confident with setting, operating and editing programmes at the machine . Experience with either Citizen sliding-head machinery or Fanuc-controlled fixed-head turning would be advantageous, although candidates with strong CNC turning experience on other controls and machinery will also be considered. The company is looking for someone who is technically capable, quality-focused and able to work independently within a small, skilled engineering team.
