Job Description
CNC Turner (Programmer / Setter / Operator) £17p/h +
Dewsbury, West Yorkshire
Competitive Salary (DOE)
Days Early Finish on Fridays
Contek Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner on behalf of a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer based in Dewsbury.
This business specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic equipment used across a wide range of industries including construction, materials handling, steel processing and water treatment.
Due to continued demand, they are looking to add a skilled machinist to their machine shop team.
The Role
This position will involve programming, setting and operating CNC lathes, working on large hydraulic cylinder components and associated parts. The machines are Harrison Alpha lathes running Fanuc controls, so experience with conversational or Fanuc-based turning controls is highly desirable.
The role is very much hands-on machining within a heavy engineering environment, producing one-offs and batch work for hydraulic cylinder builds and repair work.
Due to the size and weight of components, you will also be working with overhead cranes and jig cranes to safely load and manoeuvre parts during machining.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines
- Working on Harrison Alpha lathes with Fanuc controls
- Machining components for hydraulic cylinders and heavy engineering assemblies
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Selecting tooling, offsets and machining strategies
- Carrying out in-process inspection to ensure quality standards
- Safely operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment
Experience Required
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner (Programmer / Setter / Operator)
- Experience with Fanuc controls (Harrison Alpha machines desirable)
- Ability to work from engineering drawings independently
- Experience working in a heavy engineering or large component environment
- Experience using overhead cranes or lifting equipment
Working Hours
Monday Thursday: 8:00am 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am 2:30pm
Why Apply?
- Join a well-established engineering manufacturer with decades of industry experience
- Work on large, interesting heavy engineering components rather than repetitive small parts
- Stable day shift with early finish on Fridays
- Opportunity to be part of a skilled and experienced engineering team
If you are a CNC Turner with programming, setting and operating experience, and enjoy working within a heavy engineering environment, we would like to hear from you.
