About the Role
A n exciting opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented
Quality Inspector
to join a leading UK precision engineering and manufacturing facility. This role is specifically designed for a hands-on metrology professional looking for long-term career growth.
Through structured on-the-job training, mentoring, and professional development, you will systematically transition into a full
Quality Engineer
position, taking ownership of quality management systems, continuous improvement, and high-integrity compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Dimensional Inspection:
Inspect high-tolerance metallic and plastic components using traditional measuring equipment (micrometres, verniers, shadowgraphs/optical projectors) and advanced Coordinate Measuring Machines (Mitutoyo and DEA Swift CMMs).
Documentation & Verification:
Verify manufacturing paperwork, material certificates, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) against complex engineering drawings.
Quality Control:
Identify, log, and quarantine out-of-specification parts, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and assisting with containment.
Specialized Processes:
Support adherence to strict industry standards, including ISO Class 7 clean room assembly protocols and helium leak testing checks.
Progression to Quality Engineer:
Gradually step up into root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys), QMS internal auditing, customer liaison, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the machine shop.
Candidate Requirements:
Proven inspection experience within a precision engineering, CNC machining, or high-tolerance manufacturing environment.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, tight tolerances, and GD&T.
Hands-on proficiency with precision hand tools and CMM operation (Mitutoyo/DEA systems).
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards (familiarity with Rolls Royce or similar high-integrity standards is a distinct advantage).
