Contek are working with an engineering client that operates from a 28,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility, making use of a wide range of the very latest machining cells including Multi Pallet Horizontal Milling, Multi Axis Mill-Turn Machining, Robotic and Bar Fed Lathes through to Swiss style Sliding Head Lathes to provide a flexible, competitive and reliable production solution. The business comprises sub-contract machining for various industries including Automotive, Hydraulics, Defence, and Medical assembly of components within ISO13485 standards. They are looking to expand the team and are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join on a permanent basis. Generally, a 37.5hr working core hour week.
Responsibilities:
- Online and Offline programming for CNC Activities – 5 Axis, 3 Axis and Horizontal Mills.
- Utilize state of the art machinery with Robotics and Automated pallet systems.
- Develop tooling solutions and rework activities centred around CNC milling.
- Perform problem solving and root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
- Provide technical, machining task planning and authorisation.
- Advise and support daily shop-floor management meetings.
- Develop the ME function, identifying new technology to enhance productivity & quality.
- Estimating and collaboration with team for viable cycle times of parts.
- Set up CNC products; understand the concept of using different materials; tooling for specific situations etc.
- Troubleshooting CNC operations using RCA and incorporating a robust solution.
- Working closely with Production to develop practices, routines and solutions to help improve productivity and product quality.
- Familiarity and use of Mazak machinery.
Background:
- Manufacturing / Engineering Apprenticeship or above.
- Previous Hands-on Machining experience (Milling).
- Experience with 5 axis, 3 axis and multi axis machinery.
- Confident with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Offline programming using CAD/CAM software (Hypermill or Solidcam) - Other transferrable CADCAM systems would be considered.
Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering (preferably Manufacturing or Mechanical).
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD.
- Working experience of CNC machines up to 5 axis.
- Problem-solving skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in Lean and 6 Sigma (Green belt Ideal).
- Experience with computer software.
- Good communication / presentation skills for effective liaison and teamwork.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on several tasks or projects concurrently.
