We are currently supporting a leading automotive OEM in their search for a Vehicle Geometry Integration Lead Engineer to join their Vehicle Packaging & Geometric Integration team in Gaydon. This is a key contract opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a critical role in full vehicle geometric integration, working across the Closures & Exteriors domain from concept through to end of life.

The Role

You’ll join an established vehicle integration team responsible for delivering clash‑free, high‑quality vehicle geometry, while balancing system performance, attributes, customer requirements and future technologies across the vehicle architecture. Working closely with Package Zone Leaders, Group Technical Leaders, CoCs and Attribute teams, you’ll help ensure robust system integration and elegant engineering solutions within the Closures & Exteriors zone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support package zone leaders and group technical leaders across Closures & Exteriors
  • Deliver high‑quality, target‑achieving and clash‑free geometry
  • Integrate systems, hardware and attributes into overall vehicle architecture
  • Develop and propose weight, cost and customer‑optimised packaging solutions
  • Conduct CAD studies to ensure geometry standards and targets are met or exceeded
  • Protect vehicle space for future technology and customer features
  • Resolve cross‑functional geometric and integration issues
  • Ensure package‑owned standards and requirements are adhered to
  • Work within agile integration sprints, supporting continuous delivery

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in product design within at least one functional area
  • Strong experience using CATIA V6 for detail design, packaging or geometric integration
  • Structured problem‑solving and issue‑management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and graphical)
  • Broad knowledge of vehicle architectures, propulsion systems and subsystems
  • Experience using benchmarking tools to support concept and idea generation
  • Ability to negotiate solutions in areas of technical conflict
  • Comfortable working to tight timing constraints in a fast‑paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and collaborative team delivery

Desirable Experience

  • Lead Engineer or launch delivery experience on exterior systems
  • Experience with vehicle packaging and vehicle engineering structures
  • Knowledge of OEM systems (e.g. DOORS, RMDV, RTC, Jira, SDots, WERS, AIMS)
  • Agile experience and use of tools such as Jira & Confluence
  • DFMEA & DRBFM experience
  • CAD viewer tools: VisMockup, Digibuck, Teamcenter, 3DX
  • Experience with CATIA V5
  • Confident presenting to peers and senior management
  • Understanding of project planning and delivery to plan
  • Knowledge of electronic‑based parts lists and family trees
