Contract: 3-6 months, Outside IR35

We are seeking an experienced DVA Engineer to support an automotive OEM. This role is ideal for someone with strong dimensional analysis expertise and deep knowledge of 3DCS modelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Applying Design Variation Analysis (DVA) tools to evaluate multiple concepts and validate optimal vehicle solutions.
  • Leading Engineering Release (ER) sign-off across all components for new model programmes.
  • Supporting Perceived Quality teams to define vehicle gap & flush targets.
  • Working cross‑functionally to develop the complete dimensional control concept across major exterior and interior systems.
  • Building detailed 3DCS tolerance simulation models to evaluate design capability and reporting insights against functional and aesthetic targets.
  • Attending design reviews, highlighting lessons learned, and feeding dimensional concerns into the client's fault management system.
  • Developing a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling philosophies.
  • Providing input into assembly sequence planning and assembly concept decision‑making.
  • Ensuring FT&A/GD&T complies with BS8888 and ISO1101 and aligns with manufacturing requirements.
  • Supporting datum strategy creation for jigs, fixtures, and measurement plans.
Key Qualifications
  • Managing internal standards and training documentation for 3DCS model creation.
  • 3DCS experience.
  • Strong background in Dimensional Variation Analysis.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups.
  • Ability to interpret and validate complex vehicle dimensional concepts.
  • Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven experience within automotive new product development.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (2:1+ preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using CATIA V5.
  • Understanding of GD&T in line with BS8888.
  • Exposure to 8D / PPS problem‑solving.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes across composites, polymers, pressings, castings, etc.
  • Basic understanding of jigs, fixtures, SPC, and process capability.
  • Methodical with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work independently.
