We are recruiting for our Coventry based Automotive customer who are looking to add an Expert Designer - Exterior to their permanent team.
Primary Purpose of the Job: To support the Creative Exterior Design teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Participate in all elements of exterior design, leading the development of concept ideas, renderings, tracking digital models and clay models.
- Communicate effectively across cultures and complete the design plan according to requirements.
- Cooperate and guide the digital and physical model design.
- Use display software to analyse product modelling reports, concept ideas, rendering expressions, etc.
- Have experience in automotive design, with a strong foundation in hand-drawing and rendering ability, able to quickly capture creative ideas.
- Create photo realistic images of design work.
Principle Contacts/Working Relationships:
- Role will report to Design Chief.
- Work with the exterior team, especially with the Principal Exterior Designer.
- Deep cooperation with the China team.
Decision Making Scope: Define structure design concept; verification strategy of architecture.
Key Challenges:
- Communicating with Management and Key Stakeholders to progress projects through key gateways and senior reviews.
- Interacting with multiple members of the design and engineering teams to produce the best possible designs.
Education, Training and Experience:
- 8 years of experience in automotive styling with specific input to conceptual design (experience in OEM preferred).
- Participation in 5 or more exterior styling design mass production projects.
- Experience in creative design of luxury brand exterior/interior preferred.
- Familiarity with exterior surface design and engineering constraints, balancing design and constraints.
- Industrial design and transportation design background from art colleges preferred.
Programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, Showcase, Adobe Alias, Adobe V Red and AI software.
Skills:

- Proficiency in Photoshop, AI, Alias, Vred and other drawing software.
