I am currently recruiting on behalf of a premium automotive manufacturer who are looking for an Electrical Update Engineer to join their team on a long term rolling contract basis.
Job description: As an Electrical Update Engineer your main responsibilities are:
- Provide a technical lead for scripting, testing and delivering updates packs to the wider business using the automated update tool, Flamingo.
- Attend the EE-Change Control Board (CCB), liaising with project teams to understand specifics, generating a bespoke test script and confirming suitability to associated baselines and System 42.
- Liaise with the CP-Tool Manager and highlight any discrepancies found when using D2C2.
- Generate Beta and Final update packs for requested project vehicles.
- Identify and create the test requirement for each Flamingo Work Package in-line with the changes (severity).
- Prove out the Flamingo updates on the allocated fleet vehicles, identifying integration dependencies and checking compatibility.
- Perform back end analysis on the allocated Flamingo results which were subject to a Flamingo update and oversee resolution of issues preventing the roll-out of these updates.
- Work with Aftersales, Quality and Version Management to ensure compliance to UNECE regulations relating to the update of vehicles to baselines.
- Attend the ICCB meetings to obtain advance information on new parts and ZDCs and SW that will be required in Flamingo.
- Work with the test and build support team to understand physical updates of a vehicle in advance of Flamingo scripts.
- Perform and analyse Flamingo traces.
- Understand failures during ZDC development.
- Participate in the resolution of ZDC failures using UDS Error Codes.
- Liaise with engineers within the department to ensure fixes are put in place to prevent failures experienced by customers.
- Provide Flamingo related support and EE recommendations to the Durability, Quality, Press & Special, and Aftersales functions when required.
Qualifications/Skills needed:
- Understanding of country matrix to assign standard and option PR codes to ECUs within the part structure for each project.
- Knowledge of ZDCs, what they do, how they are structured. Help to resolve coding errors with users and engineers.
- Full understanding of UNECE 155 AND 156 and its application to CP TOOL.
- VW Standards for regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record in electrical fault finding and vehicle diagnosis.
- Significant experience in specifying and validating complex integrated vehicle systems.
- VAG diagnostic tool, CANalyzer/CANoe, Multi-network dataloggers, Vehicle configuration tools.
- German language preferable.
- SFD Process understanding.
