We are now looking for a hands‑on Management Accountant to enhance financial reporting, improve processes, and provide high‑quality support across the business.
Contract type: Full‑time, Permanent
Location: Hybrid of central Oxford office and home (min of 2 days to be agreed)
Hours: 37.5 hours / week (08:00-16:30 or 08:30-17:00 or 09:00-17:30)
About the role
The Management Accountant will play a key role in delivering timely, accurate financial reporting and ensuring the integrity of financial information. You will own core accounting processes, support month‑end close, prepare management accounts, and work closely with the Finance Manager to provide analysis and insight.
This role reports directly to the Finance Manager, who has overall responsibility for Finance Operations and provides guidance, review and sign‑off of all operational finance outputs.
The position operates within the standards of a listed‑company environment, requiring strong internal controls, audit‑ready documentation, and adherence to group financial governance.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑driven, proactive, and eager to grow within a scaling technology business.
Specific responsibilities include:
Month‑End & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, variances, and commentary.
- Ensure accurate and timely month‑end close, managing accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations.
- Support production of board‑level reporting and KPI dashboards.
- Ensure all month‑end reporting outputs meet listed‑company requirements for accuracy, audit trail, control evidence, and compliance with group accounting policies.
Financial Operations
- Responsible for day‑to‑day accounting activities, including AP/AR oversight, expense management, and revenue recognition checks.
- Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation suitable for a growing SME.
- Support statutory reporting, audit preparation, and compliance activities.
Analysis & Business Support
- Work with the Finance Manager to deliver financial insights to operational teams.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modelling.
- Provide departmental spend analysis and cost‑centre reporting.
- Support product and project costing, margin analysis, and decision‑making.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes through automation, simplification, or better tooling.
- Support implementation and optimisation of accounting or reporting systems.
- Contribute to strengthening Finance Operations by embedding efficiencies that also maintain control integrity.
About you
- Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Experience producing management accounts within an SME, tech, or service‑based business.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month‑end processes.
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills and familiarity with accounting systems.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Experience within technology, SaaS, or health‑related sectors.
- Experience of Oracle ERP and Xero would be advantageous.
- Exposure to revenue recognition for subscription or recurring revenue models.
- Experience improving processes or implementing new systems in a scaling company.
