Specific responsibilities include:

  • Month‑End & Management Reporting

    • Support production of board‑level reporting and KPI dashboards.
    • Ensure all month‑end reporting outputs meet listed‑company requirements for accuracy, audit trail, control evidence, and compliance with group accounting policies.
  • Financial Operations
    • Responsible for day‑to‑day accounting activities, including AP/AR oversight, expense management, and revenue recognition checks.
    • Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation suitable for a growing SME.
    • Support statutory reporting, audit preparation, and compliance activities.
  • Analysis & Business Support
    • Work with the Finance Manager to deliver financial insights to operational teams.
    • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow modelling.
    • Provide departmental spend analysis and cost‑centre reporting.
    • Support product and project costing, margin analysis, and decision‑making.
  • Systems & Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes through automation, simplification, or better tooling.
    • Support implementation and optimisation of accounting or reporting systems.
    • Contribute to strengthening Finance Operations by embedding efficiencies that also maintain control integrity.

About you

  • Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Experience producing management accounts within an SME, tech, or service‑based business.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and month‑end processes.
  • Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience within technology, SaaS, or health‑related sectors.
  • Experience of Oracle ERP and Xero would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to revenue recognition for subscription or recurring revenue models.
  • Experience improving processes or implementing new systems in a scaling company.

Personal Qualities

  • Proactive, hands‑on, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills – able to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
  • Curious mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
