What You Can Expect

  • Work to agile best practices and cross‑functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders. You’ll be using your technical skills to problem solve with our clients, as well as working on internal projects.
  • Live in‑person whiteboarding sessions to problem solve as a team, alongside asynchronous communication on Teams.
  • Hybrid working with the team on client site or in our office a minimum of two days per week. The actual time you spend and where you spend it will vary by role or assignment, including up to 5 days per week on a client site.

  • Apply service design mindset and methods—research, synthesis, mapping, modelling, prototyping—based on what the context needs.
  • Plan and run interviews, workshops and desk research to build a clear picture of users, operations and constraints.
  • Turn complexity into clear insights and practical opportunities.
  • Co‑create future service options with stakeholders; facilitate alignment and decision‑making.
  • Choose the right level of fidelity to communicate how services work—from simple visually compelling design‑led narratives to detailed process models.
  • Test concepts through lightweight pilots, simulations or behavioural experiments.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Miro, ChatGPT, Claude, agentic workflows, and other generative tooling) to accelerate sensemaking and option exploration.
  • Present implications and recommendations in straightforward, actionable terms for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • A systems‑oriented thinker who treats service design as a way of thinking, not a set of deliverables.
  • Confident conducting research and synthesising evidence into direction.
  • Skilled at communicating across operations, policy, product and technology—both technically and creatively to inspire.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions constructively and proposing alternatives.
  • Curious and already integrating AI into analysis, synthesis or modelling.
  • Adaptable across roles — researcher, facilitator, modeller, prototyper — based on need.
  • Adapt the approach to the situation; avoid rigid frameworks.
  • Use AI intentionally to speed analysis and broaden scenario exploration.
  • Produce outputs that teams use to make decisions and deliver change.
  • Guide teams through ambiguity with structure and plain language.
  • Work well in multidisciplinary teams and as an IC when the project requires it.
  • Keep focus on outcomes: better decisions, better services, better experiences.

Please be aware that some of our UK roles at PA Consulting require a UK security clearance. All PA people are required to undergo background checks and to achieve the Baseline Personnel Security Standard however, some UK roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting, where applicants must have at least 5 years of continuous residency in the UK. Assessment process

  • Quick call with one of our Tech Recruiters – to discuss your application, the role and PA.
  • Round 1: Competency interview (60 mins).
  • Round 2: Case study presentation (60 mins).
  • Final round: Meeting with a PA leader - a mini case study and discussion around your client‑centricity (60 mins).
