Company Description

Bringing Ingenuity to Life – We are an innovation and transformation consultancy that believes in the power of ingenuity to build a positive human future in a technology‐driven world. Our diverse teams of experts combine innovative thinking with breakthrough technologies to progress further, faster.

Job Description

About the Group Systems Team – This is an opportunity to join our Infrastructure Services team within the Group Systems corporate function. We are not just another IT department – we are constantly evolving and embracing new technologies to empower our global workforce. As such, we are looking for a Google Engineer to join our internal IT support team with a focus on supporting our Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.

Dimensions of role – This is an interesting and varied role where you will focus on the transformation and optimisation of our Google Workspace tenant. You will be responsible for the day‐to‐day administration, management and maintenance of our Google Workspace environment, ensuring a secure, efficient and modern digital workplace experience. Alongside this you will also support the integration of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) tenant.

You will also play a crucial role in the proactive development, integration and modernisation of our Google tenant, working closely with other teams to implement a change programme across areas such as backups, DLP and monitoring, while working with the business to continually drive value from the tools as Workspace evolves. This role sits within our Strategy, Architecture and Infrastructure Services team and is a key part of IT service delivery across PA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all aspects of the Google Admin Console, including core services (Docs, Calendar, Drive etc.), user and group management, organisational units (OUs) and security policies.
  • Implementation and monitoring of security settings, investigating alerts and managing policies within Google Workspace; collaborating with security teams on integrating tools like Defender for Cloud Apps and other logging/monitoring solutions.
  • Administering and managing the deployment and governance of Gemini for Google Workspace and other emerging AI services, ensuring they align with business needs and security standards.
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex Google Workspace issues and contributing to documentation and training materials for end‐users and service desk teams.
  • Managing the lifecycle of Google sub‐services, new products and third‐party marketplace add‐ons, from evaluation and deployment to maintenance and decommissioning.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Google Workspace Administrator or Engineer in a large‐scale environment.
  • Deep expertise in managing the Google Admin Console, including core applications, security settings and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and Google Cloud Identity.
  • Experience administering and governing Gemini for Google Workspace or similar AI‐driven productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with managing third‐party application integrations and add‐ons within Google Workspace.
  • Hands‐on experience with cloud solutions such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.
  • Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) and other logging tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Workspace Administrator) would be advantageous.

Skills / Personal Qualities

  • Strong IT knowledge and background, experience integrating with Microsoft environments.
  • Effective communicator (in‐person / written) with the ability to develop clear and concise documentation.
  • Works effectively, sensitively and collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A self‐starter, happy to work in isolation or as part of a larger team and able to use your own initiative rather than relying on direction from others.
  • Ability to understand audit requirements and support compliance by providing responses to security audits (such as Cyber Essentials).
  • Appreciates the importance of a high availability and secure systems and infrastructure.
