Overview of the Director Trading Book Risk role at Consultancy.uk. Based in London, United Kingdom with a focus on leading trading book risk initiatives within Zanders' Trading Book Risk practice.
Your role as a Zanders Director in Trading Book Risk will be part of our global Financial Institutions management team. Your key responsibility will be to set the department's strategic decisions and business planning to support our commercial growth and expand the portfolio of our clients. You will also be responsible for the successful delivery of existing traded risk projects and for managing a group of ambitious consultants by enabling them to grow their technical and soft skills.
On projects, you will work with a global group of 100+ Financial Institutions consultants to deliver complex quantitative projects relating to traded risk management, including design, development, implementation, testing and validation of models across the trading book spectrum (market risk, counterparty credit risk, XVA, margin models and derivatives pricing).

What You Will Do
- Identify and develop commercial initiatives within Trading Risk and execute outreach strategies across existing and new clients;
- Expand Zanders' pool of clients within the Trading Risk domain by leveraging your existing network and building relationships in the industry;
- Liaise with peers to support cross-functional propositions and shape future direction leveraging opportunities from emerging market developments;
- Lead a team of talented individuals to support their personal development and potential;
- Act as the senior point of contact for Trading Risk Clients to ensure expectations are met and to achieve client advocacy.
How To Succeed
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- 12+ years of experience in traded risk analytics, including within a consultancy, with a proven track record leading teams and complex projects;
- Entrepreneurial, innovative, strategic thinker with a natural ability to build relationships and support business development; ideally with a personal network of traded risk management specialists at financial institutions in the UK;
- Fluency in spoken and written English, strong communication skills, and a growth mindset;
- Extensive knowledge of the latest industry developments and related regulations pertaining to traded risk topics (market risk, counterparty credit risk, XVA, margin models and derivatives pricing);
- Strong understanding of risk modelling, with experience in developing or validating quantitative risk models;
- Education in a quantitative field (MSc or PhD advantageous), preferably financial economics, quantitative finance, mathematics, physics or computer science.
