Role Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement data solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake Storage, working closely with clients and internal teams to deliver robust and accessible data solutions. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to team growth, and have clear opportunities for career progression towards technical architecture and leadership roles. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive, collaborative approach are essential, as this is a customer-facing role. While experience with Logic Apps is beneficial and a background in Python, Scala, or SQL is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Implement data models and analytics solutions using Synapse Analytics and Data Lake Storage.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes to maintain data integrity and performance.
  • Ensure data solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues efficiently.
  • Document technical solutions and best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.

About The Candidate

  • Proven experience in data engineering with Microsoft Azure, including hands‑on work with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake Storage.
  • Strong development skills in Python, Scala, or SQL, with a solid understanding of data modelling and analytics solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders in a customer‑facing role.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently, and proactive in delivering high‑quality solutions.
  • Experience with Logic Apps, integration tools, and familiarity with data frameworks like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform), and exposure to machine learning or AI solutions are beneficial.
  • Demonstrates a naturally curious mindset, embraces continuous learning, and is able to mentor and support junior engineers.
