Workshop Controller

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organised Workshop Controller to join our team in Avonmouth.
You will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day workshop and fleet maintenance operation, ensuring vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule planned maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs.
- Allocate work to Workshop and Mobile Technicians.
- Monitor workshop workload, productivity and repair progress.
- Coordinate vehicle defects, breakdowns and recovery where required.
- Manage vehicle VOR (Vehicle Off Road) activity and minimise downtime.
- Ensure PMIs, MOT preparations and statutory inspections are completed on time.
- Maintain accurate workshop and fleet records and ensure compliance with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements.
- Source parts and liaise with suppliers to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
- Monitor maintenance costs and support cost-control initiatives.
- Produce daily workshop, fleet availability and maintenance reports.
- Communicate repair progress and vehicle availability to operational teams and customers.
- Promote a strong health & safety and compliance culture within the workshop.
About You
- Previous experience in a workshop, fleet maintenance or transport environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Good understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of fleet compliance and roadworthiness requirements.
- Full UK Driving Licence
