We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing passenger transport operator for an experienced and motivated General Manager / Transport Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of their Warminster operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to have a genuine impact on the performance, development and future growth of the business.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role, overseeing operational delivery, compliance, people management, fleet and resource planning, while working closely with senior management to identify opportunities for continued improvement and growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will take overall responsibility for the efficient, safe and commercially successful operation of the depot. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the daily operation of the depot and ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and reliably
- Leading, motivating and supporting drivers, office and engineering teams
- Ensuring full compliance with the Operator Licence and all relevant transport legislation
- Managing driver performance, attendance, conduct and standards
- Planning and coordinating vehicle and driver resources
- Monitoring operational performance and implementing improvements where required
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, local authorities and suppliers
- Supporting recruitment, training and ongoing staff development
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and support business growth
- Contributing to the overall strategic development of the operation
- Participating in an on-call management rota, approximately one week in four
- Undertaking some driving duties as required
Experience & Qualifications
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
- Coach or bus operations
- Passenger transport
- Transport management
- Logistics or fleet management
- Transport planning
- Operational or depot management
- Team leadership
A Passenger Transport Manager CPC is desirable but not essential. For candidates who do not currently hold the qualification, full support will be provided to work towards and obtain the Transport Manager CPC. A PCV licence is also desirable. Candidates who do not currently hold a PCV licence must be willing to undertake the necessary training, as some driving duties will form part of the role.
