We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established compliance and building services specialist that delivers critical safety and maintenance solutions across the UK. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is seeking an experienced Fire Damper Testing & Installation Engineer to join their London-based operations team.

The Role
As a Fire Damper Testing & Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, and reporting of fire and smoke dampers within ventilation systems. You will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with current legislation, British Standards, and industry best practice. This is a field-based role requiring a high level of technical competence, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fire damper inspections and operational testing in accordance with BS9999 and industry best practice.
- Verify damper accessibility, condition, operation, and compliance.
- Inspect fusible links, actuators, retaining angles, and associated components.
- Identify defects and non-compliant installations and recommend remedial actions.
- Capture photographic evidence and maintain accurate asset records.
Installation & Remedial Works
- Install fire dampers and fire/smoke combination dampers.
- Install access panels and undertake associated ductwork modifications.
- Carry out remedial works to ensure compliance with current fire safety regulations.
- Work alongside HVAC engineers, site teams, and facilities management professionals.
Compliance Reporting
- Complete digital inspection reports and compliance certificates.
- Produce clear and accurate documentation for clients.
- Update company systems with inspection results and recommendations.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company quality standards.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Follow company Health & Safety policies, RAMS, and safe working procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and access equipment.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism at all times.
- Produce site-specific RAMS where required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in fire damper testing, installation, or maintenance.
- Experience working within commercial and public-sector buildings.
- Good understanding of HVAC and ventilation systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 minimum
