HGV Technician Mechanic in Chorley, Lancashire

Salary:Up to 19.50ph plus bonus schemes + Enhanced Overtime rates
Overtime:Available at time

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated HGV Technician / Mechanic to join a leading commercial vehicle maintenance provider. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual looking to work with a variety of HGVs, trailers, and drawbars, carrying out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics to the highest standards.

Work Schedule:

• Week One:Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Week Two:Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, plus Saturday morning (7:00 AM 12:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, service, and repair all makes and models of HGVs, trailers, and drawbars.
• Use the latest diagnostic tools and manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment.
• Perform repairs on brakes, clutches, gearboxes, engines, and electrical systems.
• Carry out MOT inspections, preparation, and presentation.
• Conduct roller brake testing, fault diagnosis, and necessary repairs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Occasionally work on small plant machinery.
• Report to the Service Manager and follow company policies and procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be a qualified vehicle mechanic with one of the following:

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• City & Guilds or an equivalent qualification.
• Time-served experience in vehicle mechanics.

Skills & Attributes:

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to diagnose and repair vehicles accurately.
• Proficiency in using modern diagnostic tools and laptop computers.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently, maintaining a high standard of quality.
• A proactive \”can-do\” attitude with a flexible approach to various tasks.
• Ability to problem-solve with minimal supervision.
• Own tools are required.
• An HGV License is preferred but not essential.
