The Opportunity
We are supporting a growing and well-established specialist in the maintenance and refurbishment of municipal and waste collection vehicles. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to join their production team. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role focused on the build, refurbishment, and assembly of refuse collection vehicles and associated equipment. You will play a key part in the production process, ensuring vehicles are completed to a high standard and ready for delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of the production team building and refurbishing refuse collection vehicles
- Assemble and fit mechanical components including bin lifts, compactors, and body systems
- Carry out strip-downs, inspections, and rebuilds of vehicle components
- Install and work on hydraulic systems and mechanical assemblies
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications to complete builds
- Support production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
Requirements
- Experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a production, workshop, or heavy engineering environment
- Strong mechanical assembly and fitting skills
- Knowledge of hydraulics and/or vehicle systems (HGV, plant, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Team player with a proactive and reliable approach
