An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and analytically minded Management Accountant to join a growing Finance team. This is a key role where you will take ownership of essential financial processes, deliver accurate and timely reporting, and support strategic decision-making across the organisation. About the Role
The Management Accountant will be responsible for maintaining high-quality financial information, supporting planning cycles, ensuring data accuracy, and improving financial processes. You will work closely with departments across the organisation, providing financial insights that help drive operational and strategic performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify financial data from operational departments, including sales invoicing and cost reporting
- Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, and full balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain the fixed asset register and HP schedule
- Reconcile stock valuations and investigate variances
- Produce reports covering income, expenditure, profit margins, and utilisation
- Analyse financial performance and highlight anomalies or emerging trends
- Collate and report departmental KPIs and performance metrics
- Support the annual budgeting process, including model preparation and attendance at departmental budget meetings
- Conduct quarterly forecast updates and performance analysis
- Prepare commentary comparing results to budget and forecast
- Complete quarterly VAT returns
- Assist with day-to-day cash management
- Support external audit processes and ensure internal control compliance
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
- Oversee reconciliation of company credit cards and fuel cards
- Provide financial input to strategic projects and business cases
- Support and develop ledger team colleagues
About You
- ACCA, CIMA, ACA qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience in a management accounting role
- Strong understanding of financial systems and management reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
