Solutions Architect (client-embedded)

Status: Open.

About the role

Autotelica builds AI products for a large UK energy company: a platform that keeps its developers' AI coding agents to the company's standards, and Quayside, our AI control product.

We don't sell fixed software.

We find a problem inside the client, work out what would solve it, and build it fast with AI.

You're our person inside the client.

You sit in their meetings, learn what they're trying to achieve, and work out where we can help, either with what we already have or with something new we could build.

Our engineers write the production code.

You need the technical judgement to know what's possible, what it would take, and what's worth doing.

What you'll do

  • Work primarily virtually/remotely, with UK presence required and 10-20% on-site attendance.

Attend the client's meetings and build working relationships across business, IT, architecture and security.

  • Listen for the goal behind each request, and turn it into a technical solution: which systems it touches, how the data flows, and what an agent can and can't safely do.
  • Show where our products fit as they stand. Spot problems we could solve with something new, and make the case for building it.
  • Shape each opportunity into something we can sell: scope, outline architecture, rough effort, and the outcome the client will measure.
  • Build quick prototypes with AI coding agents to show the client an idea before the team commits to it.
  • Hand each piece of work to the product lead and tech lead with enough detail to build, and stay with it until what ships matches what the client needed.
  • Take our designs through the client's architecture board and security review.

What you bring

  • Eight or more years in solutions architecture, pre-sales or sales engineering, or technical consulting with enterprise clients.
  • You've designed integrations in large, old estates: legacy systems, identity, data, APIs and cloud.
  • Sound technical judgement. You can tell what's easy, what's hard and what's a bad idea, and say why.
  • A commercial head. When you see a client's problem, you think about what solving it is worth to them and to us.
  • Daily hands-on use of AI coding agents and LLMs. You can build a working prototype yourself, even if you'd never ship it.
  • You listen well and clients trust you. You're at ease with a CIO and with a principal engineer.
  • Short, clear written English.
  • Nice to have
  • Energy, utilities or another regulated sector.
  • Agentic AI design (MCP servers, agent harnesses, model gateways), AI governance or secure SDLC.
  • Microsoft Entra, Azure or AWS; SAP or Service Now integration.
