Castle Peak Group has been retained to support the appointment of a Non-Executive Director with significant expertise in digital strategy, technology and organisational transformation. This is an important Board-level appointment within a large and complex healthcare organisation delivering hospital and community-based services to a diverse population.

The organisation is entering an important period of development, with a continued focus on strengthening governance, organisational culture, risk management and the quality and sustainability of services.

Digital transformation is a key strategic priority, and the successful candidate will bring the experience, insight and independent perspective required to support the organisation's digital ambitions while contributing to the wider responsibilities of the Board.

The Role

As a Non-Executive Director, you will work alongside the Chair, fellow Non-Executive Directors and Executive Directors as an equal member of the Board, sharing collective responsibility for the strategic direction, performance and success of the organisation.

You will provide independent judgement, constructive challenge and strategic advice across the full range of Board responsibilities, including quality, performance, finance, governance, risk, organisational culture and strategic delivery.

A particular focus of this appointment will be digital, technology and data. The organisation is seeking to strengthen its Board-level digital capability and accelerate the delivery of its digital strategy.

The successful candidate will play an important role in providing oversight and assurance in this area, including through membership of a newly established Digital and Data Committee.

The Person

We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded individual with substantial first-hand experience of developing and executing digital systems strategy, supported by a strong technical background.

You are likely to have held a senior digital, technology, IT, data or transformation leadership position within a large and complex organisation, with a track record of using digital innovation to support organisational performance, service improvement and wider strategic objectives.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Senior leadership and/or Board-level experience within a large and complex organisation.
  • Significant experience of developing and implementing digital or technology strategy.
  • A strong understanding of how digital solutions, technology and data can support organisational strategy and transformation.
  • Experience of leading strategy development and/or significant organisational change.
  • Experience of working with complex stakeholders and partners.
  • An understanding of good corporate or clinical governance and its effective application within a Board environment.
  • Experience of holding others to account for delivery while balancing quality, performance and financial considerations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to probe, challenge and influence constructively.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to bring an independent and enquiring perspective to complex issues.
  • Personal resilience and the ability to operate effectively within a complex and highly scrutinised environment.

We welcome interest from senior leaders across the public, private and third sectors who can demonstrate the necessary strategic digital expertise, sound judgement and commitment to public service.

We are also interested in individuals who may be considering their first Non-Executive Director appointment and can demonstrate the experience and capabilities required to contribute effectively at Board level.

This appointment offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a major healthcare organisation at a time when digital transformation, innovation and effective governance are increasingly central to the future delivery of health services.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, provide independent oversight of a significant digital agenda and contribute to improving outcomes for patients, staff and the wider communities served.

Please note all applicants must reside in the North East of England without exception.

Castle Peak Group is committed to inclusive recruitment and welcomes applications from candidates with a broad range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
