DevOps Consultant

Rate: Up to ££350 a day inside IR35

Clearance: Active SC Clearance required

Location: Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds or Blackpool

Travel: Candidates must be able to travel to a DWP hub when required. On-site availability should be confirmed.

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Consultant to support the Azure Data Platform within Health and Disability.

You will develop CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains, with a strong focus on automation, cloud infrastructure, resilience and continuous improvement. You will work closely with product teams to deliver secure, scalable and maintainable Azure solutions.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong Azure Cloud experience, particularly Azure Data services.
  • Hands-on Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience.
  • GitLab CI/CD and DevOps tooling.
  • Monitoring experience with Prometheus/Grafana.
  • Unix/Linux/Windows and scripting experience.
  • Experience working in Agile DevOps / Platform Engineering environments.
  • Experience supporting and developing engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of loosely defined technical work.
  • Experience delivering PoCs, proof of capabilities and technical improvements.
  • Active SC Clearance.

Interview

The interview will include a problem-solving exercise assessing technical depth, engineering judgement, communication and approach to problem solving. Candidates should be comfortable explaining their decisions, assumptions and technical trade-offs.

Ideal candidate: A proactive, autonomous DevOps engineer with strong Azure Data Platform experience who can take ownership, solve complex problems and drive delivery.
