Interim Product Director
London – Hybrid
c.£900 per day | Interim contract, start ASAP | Outside IR35
Interim Product Director needed to manage the BAU of a strategic platform whilst the longer term product and investment strategy is finalised.
The Interim Product Director will work with the leadership team to ensure milestones and the roadmap are delivered during the next 6 months, whilst also analysing and documenting all current operational practices to be put clear, consistent governance, communication and good product practice in place.
There is little in the way of knowledge sharing or consistency in the way the product team operates or communicate with both internal and external stakeholders, as such the Interim Product Director role will suit a pragmatic product leader who understands what good looks like but is not utopian and can make best practice work in an evolving organisation, including keeping and documenting what currently works well.
The Interim Product Director will:
- Run BAU product delivery on the platform & lead knowledge transfer from key stakeholders
- Assess how product decisions, prioritisation and stakeholder management work today, including informal practices
- Design and embed a transparent roadmap and prioritisation process that balances executive direction, user evidence and stakeholder input
- Make clear who decides what and set up the governance forums to support it
- Set up a regular reporting cadence for executives and the wider business, covering roadmap reviews, KPIs and outcome metrics
- Prepare for and support monthly executive and SLT meetings
- Develop change and communications plans that keep discussions focused and win stakeholder buy-in
- Hand over a close-out report with adoption status, risks and recommendations for the permanent leader
The Interim Product Director must have:
- Senior product leadership experience, ideally including transformation roles
- A track record of introducing product best practice in a pragmatic, achievable way into large corporates or enterprise organisations
- Experience working with C-level stakeholders, ideally in a corporate or regulated, risk‑aware environment
- Strong storytelling and stakeholder management, with the ability to resolve circular debates
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Experience will a high volume or large scale consumer platform
