Solar Consultant (Civil) β Scotland
Β£450-500 per day (outside IR35) + average 40-45hr week + 6-12 month rolling contract + highly skilled, collaborative team environment
Solar Consultant (Civil) responsibilities include:
- Supervise day-to-day civil and earthworks activities across site.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site teams and plant to ensure works are delivered efficiently.
- Monitor construction activities against drawings, specifications, method statements and programme requirements.
- Oversee earthworks, excavation, drainage, foundations, access roads and associated infrastructure works.
- Carry out regular site inspections and monitor workmanship and progress.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Identify and resolve construction issues, escalating technical or programme concerns where required.
- Liaise with Site Managers, Project Managers, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor materials, plant and labour requirements to support efficient delivery.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and relevant documentation.
- Support quality inspections and ensure any defects, snags or non-conformances are appropriately addressed.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure site teams comply with RAMS and permit requirements.
Solar Consultant (Civil) profile:
- Qualifications in civil engineering or related fields
- Relevant site-based qualifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS, CSCS/CPCS/NPORS or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Contractors with experience on solar, battery storage, wind, utilities or energy infrastructure are encouraged to apply.
- 5+ years' experience in a site supervision role within civil engineering or construction and ideally in above industry sectors.
- This is a hands-on site supervision position suited to someone who is comfortable managing contractors and coordinating multiple civil activities in a live construction environment.
- Proven experience supervising civil, earthworks or infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience within the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site coordination and contractor management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Strong knowledge of UK construction health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple site activities.
