About the Role: We are currently representing an international mid market CA firm with a lengthy history in the Christchurch market; seeking an experienced Senior Tax Consultant seeking a step up in a generalist tax function with focus on inbound & outbound work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex tax returns (companies, trusts, partnerships, HNWIs)
- Provide tax consulting advice across income tax, GST, FBT, DTA, residency, and RDTI
- Support the audit team through tax review work and deferred tax calculations
- Liaise with Inland Revenue on audits, rulings, and client negotiations
- Mentor and lead junior consultants, while contributing to internal and external training
Ideal Candidate
- CA or CPA qualified (or working towards it), with a degree in Accounting or related field
- 4 years of proven NZ tax experience in professional services
- In-depth knowledge of NZ tax legislation, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in tax research and tools (ideally including AI platforms)
- Experience with R&D tax incentives and cross-border tax issues desirable
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
- Skilled in Excel and TaxLab, and comfortable embracing new tech
