Finance Manager – Maternity cover contract with possibility to be extended

Location: Faversham

Contract: Fixed-Term Maternity Cover – 1 Year

Hours: 37.5 Hours a week Monday to Friday

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract, with the possibility of this becoming a full time position. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and can confidently manage day‑to‑day financial operations while supporting the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of finance and payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing and compliance with HMRC and other regulations
  • Prepare financial reports and assist our accountant with monthly management accounts, year‑end accounts and self‑assessments
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Bank payments
  • Manage cash flow, forecasting and budgeting
  • Reconcile bank accounts and month‑end process
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and bank managers
  • Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
  • Handle intercompany transactions and counter invoicing
  • Provide financial insights, updates and support to the leadership team
  • Account queries – internal and external
  • Assist the finance assistant with complex invoicing, expenses and credit control
  • Manage the finance and operations team including workloads, appraisals, holiday and sickness
  • Provide administration and financial support to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Quality Management System

About You

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero
  • Excellent understanding of bookkeeping, management accounts and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and management skills
  • AAT Qualified with minimum of 3‑5 years experience
  • Experience using WorkflowMax
  • Experience working within the surveying and construction consultancy industry
