Due to continued growth and strategic expansion, we are now seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to manage and develop a highly established customer portfolio across the East Midlands and surrounding regions. This is not a transactional sales role. It is a consultative, engineering-led position focused on understanding customer applications, solving complex technical challenges and becoming a trusted partner to OEMs and high-end manufacturing businesses operating at the forefront of technology.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic and technically minded individual who genuinely enjoys engineering, technology and customer interaction. The successful candidate will inherit a portfolio of established OEM accounts whilst also identifying and developing new business opportunities through a solutions-based, consultative sales approach. You will work closely with design engineers, production teams, R&D departments and procurement functions to understand applications, improve performance and deliver technically superior solutions. This role would suit someone who enjoys being in front of customers, discussing applications, interpreting engineering challenges and adding genuine technical value rather than simply selling products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, nurture and strengthen relationships with key OEM and manufacturing customers across the territory
- Identify and win new business opportunities within existing and emerging sectors
- Provide technical and application-based support to customers
- Work closely with engineering, design and production teams to understand customer requirements
- Deliver consultative sales solutions based around performance, reliability and engineering capability
- Conduct customer visits, technical discussions and product presentations
- Generate and manage a strong sales pipeline through proactive business development activity
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and account development plans
- Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and competitor activity
- Collaborate with internal technical and operational teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Previous experience within Technical Sales, Applications Engineering, Sales Engineering or a customer-facing engineering role
- A strong technical mindset with the ability to understand mechanical engineering applications
- Qualifications or background within Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Machining or similar engineering disciplines highly advantageous
- Experience working with OEMs, industrial manufacturing or engineered products preferred
- Passion for technology, engineering and advanced manufacturing
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, driven and commercially aware
- Ability to work autonomously whilst managing a regional territory
