About the Role

Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established highways and civil engineering contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy commercial team supporting the financial and contractual management of multiple civils projects across the UK. The role offers strong long-term progression within a growing and supportive business. You will be involved in day-to-day commercial administration, cost control, subcontractor management, and contract support across NEC4-based projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial team with all aspects of accounts, billing, and subcontractor management
  • Prepare financial information for applications, valuations, and payment notices
  • Process and evaluate subcontractor applications and invoices
  • Maintain and manage subcontract documentation and compliance records
  • Carry out data entry, cost tracking, and financial reporting support
  • Cross-check and analyse commercial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Liaise with internal teams including operations, commercial, and finance departments
  • Communicate with subcontractors to resolve queries and elevate issues where required
  • Assist in drafting commercial documentation and supporting contract administration
  • Support pricing and measurement activities under guidance from senior team members
  • Ensure deadlines are met across multiple live projects

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a construction or civil engineering environment (preferred)
  • Understanding of NEC4 contracts (essential)
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work methodically and manage workload effectively
  • Team player with a proactive and professional approach
