Construo Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading UK housebuilder to recruit a Trainee Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in Quantity Surveying within the residential housebuilding sector. You'll earn while you learn, receiving full support towards an industry-recognised qualification while gaining hands‑on experience across all aspects of commercial project delivery.
The Role
As a Trainee Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, supporting the commercial management of residential developments while developing the knowledge and practical experience needed to progress your career.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with site measurements and quantity take-offs
- Producing labour-only rates and supporting cost planning activities
- Assisting with material procurement and supplier enquiries
- Processing invoices, applications and utility payments
- Supporting subcontractor administration and maintaining supplier databases
- Assisting with pricing client extras and updating cost information
- Helping prepare Health & Safety documentation and project records
- Supporting build programme updates and commercial reporting
- Carrying out general commercial and administrative duties within the surveying team
Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent
- Genuine interest in Quantity Surveying and construction
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- Construction-related qualification or studies (Quantity Surveying bias) desirable
- Basic understanding of construction methods, materials and Health & Safety regulations desirable
