About the Role

Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy to recruit a Structural Engineer. The business specialises in forensic engineering, structural investigations, and disaster recovery across a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, public sector, and education. This is an excellent opportunity to join a knowledgeable and supportive team, working on varied and technically challenging projects. The role involves inspecting damaged structures, producing technical reports, and managing repair and remediation works from initial assessment through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out structural inspections on buildings affected by defects such as subsidence, fire, flooding, and structural failure
  • Produce detailed reports, specifications, and repair schedules
  • Design structural solutions for both remedial works and new build projects
  • Undertake structural calculations and prepare supporting documentation
  • Prepare drawings, reinforcement detailing, and structural steel information
  • Act as Contract Administrator on repair and refurbishment schemes
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery to programme and budget
  • Conduct site visits and inspect contractor works
  • Respond to technical queries and provide guidance to junior team members
  • Review and check engineering work across projects
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures

Requirements

  • Degree in Structural Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of structural design and construction methods
  • Experience producing calculations, drawings, and technical reports
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good understanding of building defects and structural failure
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits

Desirable

  • Chartered status (MIStructE, AIStructE, IMIStructE, MICE) or working towards
  • Experience working on projects up to £5m in value
  • Background in forensic engineering or structural investigations
  • Experience across materials including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry
