About the Role
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading UK minerals and land management organisation to recruit a Sustainability Specialist to join their growing team. This is a varied and development-focused role, supporting the management of a national land and mineral portfolio. You will play a key part in planning, environmental permitting, estates management, and sustainability strategy, helping to secure long-term mineral supply and ensure compliance across a range of UK sites. The role offers excellent exposure to the minerals and extractive industry, with involvement in planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), stakeholder engagement, and ESG-led initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic planning, environmental permitting, and compliance processes across UK sites
- Manage and support planning projects and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Liaise with operational teams on sustainability and environmental matters
- Support implementation of global ESG policies, sustainability frameworks, and compliance strategies
- Engage with stakeholders, local authorities, and communities throughout the planning lifecycle
- Assist with land and estates management to support long-term mineral supply security
- Support management of freehold and leasehold land assets, liaising with landowners and landlords
- Maintain and update land and asset Terrier databases and land register records
- Assist with planning applications and project management of sustainable development schemes
- Ensure compliance with environmental, planning, and mineral-related legislation
Requirements
- Degree in Town Planning, Estates Management, Surveying, Environmental Management, or similar (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in planning, estates, environmental, or development-related roles
- Strong understanding of planning processes and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Experience in project management of planning or development applications
- Knowledge of estates management, landlord and tenant matters, or mineral-related legislation
- Experience working within extractive industries or similar heavy industry sectors (preferred)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
