Construo Recruitment are seeking experienced Solar Roofers to lead roof-mounted PV installations across residential and commercial projects around East Anglia. This role is ideal for a skilled roofer with hands-on solar experience, confident in structural mounting, weatherproofing, and full DC array wiring, with a solid understanding of UK solar standards and MCS compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install solar PV systems on a range of roof types, including pitched (slate/tile), metal, and flat roofs
- Complete all roof-level DC wiring, including:
- Module interconnections and string wiring
- Cable routing and management
- Installation of DC isolators, connectors, optimisers, and microinverters
- Earthing and bonding of arrays and mounting systems
- MCS 020 & MCS 012 standards
- IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems
- BS 7671:2018 + A2:2022 (IET Wiring Regulations)
- BS EN (phone number removed):2016 + A1:2018 (Inspection, testing & documentation)
- UK Building Regulations (Part A, C & P)
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years’ roofing experience
- Proven experience installing roof-mounted solar PV systems
- Strong knowledge of DC wiring and PV components
- Understanding of MCS standards and UK solar best practice
- Ability to read and interpret installation drawings and schematics
- Comfortable working at height (ladders, scaffolding, fall arrest systems)
- Full UK manual driving licence (held for at least 1 year)
Desirable:
- Experience completing MCS documentation on site
- CSCS card and/or Working at Height certification
- Electrical knowledge or Level 2/3 electrical qualification
