Construo Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced and motivated Solar PV Electrician to join a growing renewable energy installation team. This role is ideal for a qualified electrician with hands-on solar PV experience, confident across DC, AC, control wiring, and commissioning, with a strong understanding of UK regulations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and maintain solar PV systems across residential, commercial, and industrial projects
  • Carry out full electrical scope including:
  • DC wiring: string configuration, isolators, fuse protection, combiners, containment
  • AC wiring: inverter connections, distribution boards, generation meters, CT clamps, backup systems
  • Control wiring: monitoring systems (Ethernet, RS485, Wi-Fi), optimisers, rapid shutdown systems
  • Earthing & bonding: arrays, mounting structures, surge protection (SPDs)
  • Perform testing, inspection, fault-finding, and inverter diagnostics
  • Complete commissioning paperwork, test certificates, and DNO notifications
  • Ensure all installations comply with UK electrical and solar PV standards
  • Follow strict health & safety procedures on all sites
  • Work closely with roofers, engineers, and apprentices to deliver projects efficiently
  • Requirements

    • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
    • Proven experience working on solar PV installations
    • Strong knowledge of inverters, optimisers, hybrid systems, and battery storage
    • Ability to test, inspect, and commission systems independently
    • Full UK driving licence

    Desirable:

    • C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing
    • CSCS or ECS card
    • Experience with DNO applications (G98 / G99)

    Knowledge of Regulations (Preferred)

    • BS 7671 (18th Edition, including Section 712 – Solar PV Systems)
    • IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems
    • MCS Standards (MIS 3002, MCS 012, MCS 017, MCS 004)
    • ENA Engineering Recommendations (G98, G99, G100)
    • BS EN 62446 (Testing & Commissioning)
    • UK Health & Safety Regulations (CDM, Working at Height, PUWER, RAMS)
