Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading UK facilities management and building maintenance provider to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Brighton. Our client operates nationally across the UK, delivering a wide range of FM and maintenance services to high‑profile commercial, retail and hospitality clients, including major household names. Due to continued expansion, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial function with an experienced QS.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing commercial performance across a portfolio of FM and maintenance projects. You will be responsible for cost control, subcontractor management, valuations, and ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with client expectations. This is an office‑based role working closely with operational teams, project managers, site engineers and clients to ensure smooth commercial delivery across multiple contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse costings for tenders including materials, labour, quantities and time
- Prepare tender and contract documentation
- Manage subcontractor procurement and monitor performance
- Negotiate contracts, rates and work schedules
- Track project variations and update cost forecasts accordingly
- Identify and manage commercial risks and cost variations
- Liaise with site managers, project managers, engineers and clients
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Prepare commercial reports and financial summaries for stakeholders
- Ensure Health & Safety awareness is maintained in all commercial activities
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or facilities management
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
