Our client who is a Principal Contractor for Network Rail, is looking for an experienced Safety Adviser to join their expanding SHEQ team. They are a specialist electrical company delivering expert electrification and plant services across the UK rail network, operating from our base in Kent. The Opportunity

Working closely with their SHEQ Manager, you’ll help ensure their people, projects, and processes meet the highest safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. This is a key role in helping them maintain compliance, drive continuous improvement, and build their strong safety culture.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections and identify trends to drive performance improvements
  • Represent the SHEQ Manager/Directors at internal and external safety meetings
  • Support investigations into incidents and ensure timely documentation
  • Advise on SHEQ-related legislation, company policies, and industry standards
  • Lead the company’s Legionella compliance programme
  • Create and deliver monthly SHEQ communications, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Prepare for annual audits and rail-specific RISQS assessments
  • Support and review operational risk assessments (e.g., manual handling, COSHH, fire safety)
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards and client expectations

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the rail industry (preferred)
  • NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety (required)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification
  • IEMA Foundation Certificate (desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of Network Rail group and line standards
  • Confident communicator with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
