Designer Manager – Up to £80,000 Basic Cladding and Curtain Walling – London An extremely successful subcontractor with a growing presence in London, known for their expertise in cladding, curtain walling and glazing are currently seeking a competent Design Manager to oversee further project wins on residential and commercial projects in London. This company has gained their recognition as an innovative subcontractor by providing high-quality installation of facade systems across London. They are looking for an experienced Design Manager with expertise in facade packages that include rainscreen and terracotta and some curtain walling. The main focus for this Design Manager will be to resource the design function for all projects, co-ordinating, managing and supporting designers/draughtspersons and to assist developing details from architectural proposals using your knowledge of building techniques. Responsibilites also include: Audit, monitor, co-ordinate and manage external design resources including cost monitoring. Review project designs produced by internal and external resources prior to issuing to client. Assess and record risk and communicate potential risks to the internal and external teams as appropriate. Liaise closely with Project and Production teams. Ensure detailed design programmes and progress reports are produced for all projects, communicating accelerations and delays to the project delivery and production teams. Wherever practical introduce value added design solutions. Actively participate in the development of design standards and procedures, and ensure that the design team maintain and operate within the standards.Working individually and within a team you will be responsible for all aspects of the design process. This will involve interpretation of architectural / services drawings leading to production of CAD layouts and working details. Therefore, you will have experience of using the latest AutoCAD packages ideally be proficient with Revit and or Solidworks. You will also have relevant, practical experience gained in a suitable sub-contractor environment where you will have been involved in managing various internal and external design elements in curtain walling, cladding, glazing, or metalwork. Minimum requirements: The ideal Design Manager will have gained 5 + years\’ experience working on exterior facade projects. Ideally you will be degree qualifified in a design related discipline or HND or City and Guilds qualified in a relevant construction or engineering related capacity. Preferably with a good understanding of current regulations and standards, maintained through regular contact with various organisations e.g. CWCT & NHBC Preferably you will also be computer literate with programming experience, have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work without supervision and to use your own initiative and experience to fulfil the company\’s commitments. Career stability will be key in the selection process, as the clients are keen to employee an individual with only a small handful of previous employers.
