What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Lab Support Associate – Media to join our Operations team, in a hands‑on laboratory support role. You’ll have a strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with clear communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop within the role. Experience with aseptic technique and laboratory procedures such as media preparation, sterilisation, and handling laboratory consumables would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate. This role is based on 25 hours per week worked across 5 days between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of media, buffers, and sterile solutions according to SOPs.
- Aseptic aliquoting of antibiotics within Class II MSC.
- Operating autoclaves and sterilising glassware and plasticware.
- Goods in; unpacking and receiving orders and storing at the correct temperatures.
- Using digital ordering systems and replenishing consumables.
- Supporting the wider lab support team when required, including glass wash operations and general laboratory housekeeping.
Requirements:
- Willingness to learn and develop with a proactive approach.
- Experience with aseptic technique is an advantage.
- Teamwork & independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and as a committed member of a team.
- Attention to detail with good literacy and numeracy, including a good level of IT literacy.
- Communication: Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills.
- Time management & flexibility: Effective time management skills, with the ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
- A minimum of a GCSE in a science subject is required or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Attention to detail, organisational skills, and desire to work in a fast‑paced environment.
