Overview
This is a client-side opportunity for an M&E Project Manager working within a Client Side Construction Projects team for a significant data centre owner/operator.
This is a live data centre role involving project management of building services upgrades and retrofits on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Hold others accountable and manage stakeholders effectively.
- Drive efficiencies in the program and deliver under pressure while seeking opportunities.
- Manage MEP projects and coordinate with contractors and consultants.
- Communicate clearly with client-side internal operations teams to maximize performance.
- Maintain SLA availability for data centre operations (Tier 3 requirements).
- Maintain robust administration and audit trails, and work to established processes.
- Report blockers, next steps, and weekly progress; track issues and actions.
- Be solution-oriented, adaptable, and able to resolve issues without compromising safety.
- Represent the client with the goal of advancing our interests and managing risk.
- Trace all activities back to cost and time impacts and identify improvement opportunities.
- Work on ACC Share Point on site and with drawings/plans; understand temporary works and implement plans.
- All works fall within the BMS, Electrical or Mechanical (cooling) disciplines; require both technical services and data centre live-site experience.
- Oversee multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate electrical, mechanical, controls and architectural aspects.
- Identify areas for improvement and act on data provided by other teams and organisations.
- Lead project direction, coordination, execution, control and completion in alignment with company strategy and goals.
Responsibilities include
- Project management and oversight of build and retrofit activities related to modifying existing infrastructure to install new or replace end-of-life equipment, including scope, timeline and budget ownership.
- Provide project management for initiatives aimed at increasing data centre resiliency.
- Review construction/project packages, create project scope, solicit proposals, and manage capital requests.
- Quality oversight including commissioning planning and execution oversight.
- Record and report key metrics to team members and management; provide operational support including procedures, best practices and maintenance initiatives.
- Drive teams to perform root cause analysis for equipment or electrical failures; work with contractors and vendors to deliver high-quality project turnovers.
- Lead within the group and across internal and external teams supporting the data centre.
Qualifications
- Strong MEP background with experience managing contractors and consultants.
- Significant experience in data centres or live DC environments with maintaining SLA availability.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with client-side operations teams.
- Methodical approach with strong administrative, audit-trail, and process-oriented capabilities.
- Ability to report blockers, recommend next steps, and track progress weekly.
- Understanding of drawings, MEP, civils/arch; ability to identify gaps and expedite programs and work packages.
- Experience with temporary works planning and on-site coordination.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural systems and how they interrelate within a data centre.
