As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of all laboratory and/or site services operations within your area. You will ensure that services are delivered efficiently, safely, and within agreed timescales, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory and site services operations, ensuring testing activities are planned and executed in line with client requirements and project deadlines.
- Develop and manage testing schedules, adjusting priorities and resources as necessary to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ensure operations are delivered in a cost-effective manner, optimising resources while maintaining service quality.
- Determine resource requirements, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support operational demands.
- Prepare project timescales, cost estimates, and operational plans for contracts and service delivery.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain quality standards, implementing effective quality control programmes to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Monitor testing and operational processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Oversee the selection, utilisation, maintenance, calibration, and replacement of equipment to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Health & Safety, Procurement, Technical, and Operational teams to achieve business objectives.
- Support Managers and Directors in implementing company policies, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and company procedures.
- Lead, motivate, and develop operational teams, fostering a positive and high-performing working environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and support to maximise team effectiveness.
- Identify training and competency requirements for team members and yourself, ensuring appropriate training, competency assessments, and auditing activities are completed and documented.
- Ensure all documentation, records, and evidence required to support accreditation and compliance activities are maintained accurately.
- Take responsibility for the effective implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with the requirements of BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 and applicable accreditation standards.
