Due to the opening of a brand new state of the art microbiology laboratory, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technicians to join our team. Previous experience is not required as we will provide all of the training necessary for you to succeed and progress. The position is based in our Laboratories Division, working at our Leicester City centre laboratory.

Lab Technician duties and responsibilities:

  • Filtration and analysis of water and other environmental samples ready for microbiological analysis.
  • Ensuring that all laboratory testing is carried out to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Follow all procedural requirements as set out by the ISO17025 Quality Management System.
  • Ensuring that adequate and proper records are kept and filed correctly.
  • Ensuring test equipment is checked, cleaned, calibrated and suitable for use.

Lab Technician Role Requirements:

  • Good oral, written and numeracy skills.
  • GCSE grade C / 5 or above in maths and science.
  • Computer literate.
  • Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous.

Your Journey with CTS:

In your first six months you will develop your basic lab skills as well as become fully proficient in aseptic technique and a range of microbiological enumeration methods. On successfully passing your 6-month probationary period, you will automatically progress to Level 2. Once at Level 2, your skills and knowledge will grow further with advanced methodology and some quality control skills being added to your armoury. Within around 12 - 18 months your next step is Level 3 and from there you will continue to progress and grow adding new areas of laboratory techniques to your now very impressive knowledge of microbiological services. The speed at which you progress is ultimately down to you and how you apply yourself in the role. We also will be looking to enrol staff into a Registered Technician/Scientist scheme with an aligned chartered body to further showcase your newly gained capabilities and build on your career progression and development.
