With headquarters in Leicester and a nationwide network of laboratories and offices, offering a wide range of Construction Materials Testing, Surveying and Monitoring services, CTS (a Phenna Group Company) is the go-to partner of choice, supporting all sectors of the construction market including residential, commercial, rail, road, airports, tunnelling, mining and utilities as well as brownfield regeneration. Due to recent expansion and increasing workload, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technicians to join our team. Previous experience is not required as we will provide all of the training necessary for you to succeed and progress.
The position is based in our Environmental Laboratories Division, working at our Leicester City centre laboratory.
Lab Technician Duties and Responsibilities:- Extraction of soil, water and construction material samples ready for chemical analysis.
- Ensuring that all laboratory testing is carried out to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.
- Follow all procedural requirements as set out by the ISO17025 Quality Management System.
- Ensuring that adequate and proper records are kept and filed correctly.
- Ensuring test equipment is checked, cleaned, calibrated and suitable for use.
- Good oral, written and numeracy skills.
- GCSE grade C / 5 or above in maths and science.
- Computer literate.
- Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous.

In your first six months, you will develop your basic lab skills as well as become fully proficient in a range of method extraction techniques. On successfully passing your 6-month probationary period, you will automatically progress to Level 2. Once at Level 2, your skills and knowledge will grow further with advanced extractions and some testing skills being added to your arsenal. Within around 12 - 18 months, your next step is Level 3, and from there, you will continue to progress and grow, adding new techniques to your impressive knowledge of analytical chemistry services. Each progression step is matched with a pay rise, ensuring that your personal development is kept in step with your earnings. The speed at which you progress is ultimately down to you and how you apply yourself in the role.
