We are recruiting on behalf of a leading national organisation for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Controller to oversee the maintenance, compliance, and day-to-day operational performance of a large vehicle fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive fleet professional to play a key role in ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational while driving efficiency and reducing downtime across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate planned preventative maintenance across the vehicle fleet.
  • Manage vehicle repairs, servicing, MOTs and breakdowns.
  • Ensure all fleet vehicles remain compliant with relevant transport legislation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and maintenance providers to achieve agreed service levels.
  • Monitor fleet performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage vehicle downtime and ensure operational disruption is kept to a minimum.
  • Review maintenance schedules and ensure servicing is completed on time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Support the continuous improvement of fleet processes and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and fleet documentation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within fleet maintenance or fleet management.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, compliance and transport legislation.
  • Experience managing external suppliers and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience using fleet management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
